Bike Athletic Company was founded in 1874 as the BIKE Web Company. Bike invented what was then called the jockey strap, a mens underwear design to protect ‘bicycle jockeys’. The jockey strap was shortened to ‘jockstrap’ a name that still stands today covering athletic supporters and fashion jockstraps alike. Bike is owned by Russell Athletic which in 2016 announced that the Bike brand is discontinued.
